Charlottesville, VA – June 8, 2016: The 6th Annual 4 the Wounded 5k was held on Saturday, June 4 at the UVA Research Park and raised over $105,000 for wounded warriors and their families. This year, SHINE participated as a Gold Level Sponsor. SHINE Teaming Partners such as Battelle, CACI, and Booz Allen Hamilton were also sponsors at the event. In the past 6 years of the race, over $500,000 has been raised. One-hundred percent of these funds go directly to race beneficiaries as The University of Virginia Foundation, host of the race, covers all administrative costs.
This year, over 1500 runners, walkers, and spectators participated in the on and off-road event. Four of SHINE’s employees participated this year, along with some of their friends and family for a total of 9 Team SHINE participants. Jennifer Gaydon, Support Specialist; Nancy Colon, FSO; and Isaac Freeman, IT Intern, from SHINE’s HQ in Charlottesville, along with Lora Selman, Support Specialist and Team SHINE Captain from SHINE’s Luray, VA office all partook in the race.
