Students Attend Half Day Course on Resilience and Innovation
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. January 23, 2014 – Students from the Federal Executive Institute’s Leadership for a Democratic Society Program attended a field experience at the Headquarters of SHINE Systems & Technologies (SHINE), an intelligence and technology firm based in Charlottesville, Virginia, for the afternoon of January 22, 2014.
The Federal Executive Institute (FEI) offers the four week Leadership for a Democratic Society (LDS) Program 11 times a year. During the third week of the program, students choose from 3-4 offerings for field experiences- half day experiential activities with local companies and agencies. SHINE’s field experience offering was entitled “The SHINE Paradigm- Resilience Feeds Innovation” and was presented by SHINE President Jeff Thomas.
Thomas used the SHINE story as an example of the relationship between resilience and innovation walking students through SHINE’s growth and challenges since its inception in 2008. “SHINE Systems has evolved significantly in the past 6 years, and I believe the challenges we have faced along the way provide excellent real-world examples and learning opportunities for the FEI students,” he said. “I look forward to the opportunity to partner with FEI more in the future.”
