CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. January 8, 2010 – SHINE Systems & Technologies (SHINE) signed partnership agreements with the Technology Commercialization Center (TeCC) and Virginia Technologies, Inc. (VTI) to strengthen SHINE Systems’ patent-pending Patent/Technology Exploitation System (PATES™) services offering.

TeCC (www.teccenter.org), based in Hampton, Va, launched in 1999 to support commercialization of technologies particularly those from NASA centers in the Mid-Atlantic Region.  Their Team features strong experience both working within and commercializing the results from NASA technology programs while demonstrating extensive aerospace-related technical and industry sector expertise.

VTI (www.vatechnologies.com) of Charlottesville, VA, is an award-winning leader in the development and commercialization of electronic instrumentation and other technologies. Their portfolio of inventions includes embedded corrosion monitors for steel-reinforced concrete structures, implantable medical devices such as a neurostimulator, and a Quantitative Light Standard for testing microscope light sources and microplate reader detectors used in biomedical research and drug discovery.

“Engaging TeCC and VTI as our partners offers complementary and valuable subject matter expertise in commercializing our clients’ inventions.  Because we recommend viability assessments and commercialization strategies in 30 days or less through our PATES™ model, it is important to implement our strategies starting on day 31.  TeCC and VTI bring ‘Day 31′ experience; we look forward to collaborating with them,” said SHINE Chief Scientist Dr. Terry Woodworth.

SHINE Advisor Kenneth Golden (USN, Retired) sees the synergy and opportunity:  “These new agreements extend SHINE Systems’ reach in IP assessment and translating clients’ IP into commercial ventures. Partnerships of this vein promote the kind of business activity our economy needs to stimulate immediate and long-term growth. We see great potential for increased business opportunities in the rich technology sector in Hampton Roads.  Kudos to SHINE Systems. ”
