CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA — December 12, 2016: SHINE Systems & Technologies is a provider of government and military intelligence solutions to federal and military agencies, as well as private enterprises and businesses. Also a Palantir Service Provider, SHINE Systems offers expert guidance to customers on their mission-critical decision-analytics needs. As a company whose business it is to guide our nation’s special operations forces, we are happy to announce the addition of former CIA Chief Mark Kelton to our Board of Advisors.

Mr. Kelton joined as an Advisor this past May, and on December 1, 2016 he met with the Board for the first time. A retired senior Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) executive with 34 years of experience in intelligence operations, Mr. Kelton is most known for his service as the Pakistan CIA Chief who oversaw 2011’s infamous raid on Osama Bin Laden. He concluded his career as Deputy Director of the National Clandestine Service for Counterintelligence (DDNCS/CI), one of the most senior-ranking positions in the Clandestine Service.

“I have had the honor to be on the SHINE Board of Advisors since May 2016 after having fortuitously run into Jeff in a waiting line at a restaurant.  Successful relationships often result from such chance encounters,” Mr. Kelton explains. “As a life-long intelligence professional I think I can offer SHINE Systems insight on what things look like from the customer’s perspective, particularly on issues involving the intelligence and national security arenas.”

Mr. Kelton possesses comprehensive expertise in the detection of insider threats, assessments of counterintelligence risk, and crisis management. It’s this direct experience and skill that Mr. Kelton brings to SHINE’s leadership team.

“The 34 years I spent in the Intelligence Community give me a unique understanding of the contributions SHINE Systems can make at the sharp end of the intelligence craft, that is, in facilitating and supporting the collection, aggregation and production of the information that is the basis of the tactical and strategic intelligence that informs government and industry alike.”

After the meeting, Mr. Kelton graciously shared some of his impressions and insights on how he can advise SHINE towards robust growth in the year to come:

“My first impressions of SHINE and its direction based upon my first Board of Advisors meeting were just what I expected: SHINE Systems is a very well-run small business working hard to serve the needs of its customers while at the same time considering prudent steps to ensure the future growth of the company. I look forward to helping SHINE succeed in both of those endeavors.”

Mr. Kelton is a recipient of the CIA Distinguished Intelligence Medal, the CIA Distinguished Career Intelligence Medal, the Director of National Intelligence Distinguished Service Medal, the CIA Director’s Award, the 2015 Presidential Rank Award of Meritorious Senior Intelligence Officer, the CIA Intelligence Medal of Merit and a number of other awards, and also works as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Security Studies at the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.
