Charlottesville, VA – March 4, 2016: The Defense Affairs Committee of the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce Strategic Division appointed SHINE Systems & Technologies President Jeff Thomas as a Sub-Committee Chair for the Government Engagement Sub-Committee.
Formerly known as the Defense Enterprise Round Table (DERT), the committee is now called the Defense Affairs Committee (DAC) and functions with a purpose to foster economic vitality by strengthening the relationships among the Chamber, Central Virginia, the local defense community, and our Veterans.
The four areas members of the Defense Affairs Committee are committed to focusing on include:
- Community Engagement – Advocacy and support for the defense industry in our region.
- Government Engagement – Advocate and support the needs of the local defense community with local, state, and federal elected officials.
- Education & Research – Identify and facilitate partnerships between the local defense community and local K-12 and higher education institutions for education.
- Veterans – Advocacy and support for Veterans and their families.
“I am excited to offer my experience as a Federal Contractor and Business Solutions Provider to the Defense Affairs Committee,” state Mr. Thomas, “and as part of this sub-committee, I hope to achieve our goal of bolstering the defense industry and its opportunities in our region while also supporting our Veterans who serve our country.”
As part of his role of Sub-Committee Chair, Mr. Thomas’ responsibilities will include fostering, facilitating, and managing improved relationships among stakeholders at Rivanna Station and Fort Belvoir.
